In order to evaluate the reaction of some nitrogen use efficiency indices and wheat grain protein content to different levels of zeolite and nitrogen, an experiment was conducted in a field in Dezful region based on a split plot design in a basic randomized complete block design with three replications in 2021-22 cropping season. The experimental treatments included the application of natural zeolite at four levels (0, 4, 8 and 12 ton.ha-1) as main plots and also four levels of nitrogen application (50, 100, 150 and 200 kg.ha-1 pure nitrogen) from the urea fertilizer source as subplots. The results of the experiment showed that the effect of zeolite, nitrogen treatments and their interaction on all studied traits was significant. Based on the comparison of the average interaction of treatments, the highest agronomic efficiency (25.02), physiological efficiency (42.10), uptake efficiency (0.93), utilization efficiency (39.15) in terms of kg.kg-1 and apparent recovery (59.07) and nitrogen harvest index (75.03) in terms of percentage were attributed to the treatment of 12 ton.ha-1 of zeolite along with 50 kg/ha of nitrogen, and the lowest values were attributed to the treatment combination of no zeolite application (control) and application of 200 kg.ha-1 of nitrogen. The maximum grain protein content (13.87%) was achieved in the treatment of 12 ton.ha-1 of zeolite with 200 kg.ha-1 of nitrogen, which was an increase of 63.17% compared to the minimum content (8.50%) in the control treatment and 50 kg.ha-1 of nitrogen. Based on the results of this experiment, the application of 12 ton.ha-1 zeolite along with 50 kg/ha of nitrogen can be considered the most effective treatment as a soil additive to increase nitrogen use efficiency indices.
