Abstract

In order to investigate the possibility of replacing chemical fertilizers with organic fertilizers and using mulch in the production of forage and seed bersim clover (Trifolium alexandrinum L.), an experiment was conducted in the growing seasons of 2019-2020 in the research farm of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources University of Khuzestan, in factorial and a randomized complete block design with three replications. The first factor of the experiment (mulch) was included:  (no-applied control (M1), common reed mulch (M2), wheat straw (M3) and black plastic (M4) and the second factor (fertilizer system types) was included: conventional in the region (F1) (100 kg Urea fertilizer + 150 kg triple superphosphate), 75% of conventional treatment + Barvar 1 + Barvar 2 (F2), 50% of conventional treatment + Barvar 1 + Barvar 2 (F3), 25% of conventional treatment + Barvar 1 + Barvar 2 (F4), and Barvar 1 + Barvar 2 (F5). The results showed that the highest plant height (74.09 cm) and fresh forage weight (18747.14 kg/ha) was obtained in m3f2 treatments, and the lowest values of these indices were obtained in m2f5 treatment. The highest amount of crude protein (24%) was obtained in the m2f1 treatment, and the lowest amount of crude protein (9.05%) was obtained in the m4f5 treatment. The highest seed weight (802.80 kg/ha) was obtained in the m2f5 treatment. In general, integration of chemical and biofertilizers with common reed mulch and wheat straw mulch, which is a good alternative to chemical fertilizers and a step towards achieving sustainable agricultural goals, could be introduced to produce the highest quality forage and seed from clover.
