Study of Physiological and Biochemical Responses of Camelina (Camelina sativa L.) to Nitrogen Application at Different Planting Dates

In order to investigate the effect of planting time and nitrogen consumption on physiological and biochemical traits of Camelina, an experiment was conducted as split plots in a randomized complete block design with three replications in the research field of Shahid Chamran University of Ahvaz in the cropping year of 2018-2019. In the present research, planting date (November 6, December 6 and January 6) was considered as the main factor and pure nitrogen (0, 23, 46 and 69 kilogram per hectare) as the sub factor. The results showed that the effect of planting time interaction and nitrogen application on grain yield, chlorophyll a and b, carotenoids, electrolyte leakage, transpiration and stomatal conductance was significant at the level of one percent probability, while the main effect of planting time on relative water content and photosynthesis was significant. The lowest percentage of electrolyte leakage (7.56 percent) and the maximum of some investigated traits were obtained in the conditions of first planting date and nitrogen consumption so that the highest grain yield (2653.8 kilogram per hectare) from the first planting date and 46 kilograms nitrogen application. Therefore, it seems that choosing the right planting time and optimal use of nitrogen is important in maintaining the physiological and biochemical health of Camelina and achieving high yield.
