The effect of organic, chemical and biological fertilizers on stigma yield and qualitative characteristics of saffron according to climatic conditions of Ardabil province was investigated during a split split plot experiment based on randomized complete blocks design with three replications in Ardabil Agricultural Research Center during two cropping years of 2015- 2016 and 2016 -2017. The experimental treatments included organic fertilizer in three levels (control, manure (20 tons per hectare) and vermicompost (10 tons per hectare)) which were placed in the main plots. Nitrogen and phosphorus (NP) chemical fertilizer mixtures were placed on two levels (including 50 and 100 percent fertilizer requirements) in sub-plots and five levels of bio-fertilizers on five levels (non-inoculation (control) and inoculation with Azotobacter, inoculation with Pseudomonas, inoculation with Bacillus subtilis and their triple inoculation (Azotobacter + Pseudomonas + Bacillus subtilis) in sub sub-plots. The results showed that fertilizer treatments had a significant effect on number of flowers, fresh and dry stigma yield and quality characteristics of saffron. So that, the effect of biofertilizer application increased the number of flowers by 92 percent compared to the control treatment. Also, the highest fresh and dry stigma yield (3.1 and 1.85 kilogram per hectare, respectively) were obtained in the treatment of organic fertilizers with biofertilizers in combination. The results of qualitative characteristics also showed that the highest percentage of crocin and picrocrocin were obtained under treatment with organic fertilizer (manure and vermicompost) and with combined application of bio-fertilizers. Also, the application of bio-fertilizers in combination increased the amount of safranal by 53 percent compared to the control treatment. |
