The effect of seed coating with nutrients and growth stimulants on germination speed and percentage, yield, and yield components of single-cross 704 corn variety in field conditions

Seed coating is one of the seed-strengthening methods that is carried out with various objectives, including increasing the speed and rate of germination, preventing damage from pests and diseases, facilitating seeding operations, uniform seed distribution, maintaining moisture around the seed, increasing yield, and increasing the speed and ability of plant establishment. This study aimed to investigate the effect of seed coating with nutrients and growth stimulants, amino acids, seaweed extract, humic acid, and hydroprime on the germination and growth of the corn cultivar Single Cross 704. The experiment was conducted in 2018 in one of the fields of the National Pars Agro-Industry and Livestock Company in a randomized complete block design with four replications. The experimental treatments included different amounts of amino acid products, seaweed extract, humic acid, and hydroprime, along with a control treatment. The results showed that different seed coating treatments on leaf surface, leaf dry weight, stem dry weight, plant dry weight, thousand seed weight, seed yield per hectare, biological yield at the one percent probability level, and different seed coating treatments on ear length, harvest index at the five percent level were statistically significant. However, different seed coating treatments had no significant effect on the number of rows per ear and the number of seeds per row. Humic acid (9 grams per kilogram of seed) and humic acid (6 grams per kilogram of seed) treatments had the highest seed yield per hectare, with 14.358 and 14.271 tons of seed per hectare, respectively, compared to other treatments.
